Swimming with your Prosthetic Eye
Can you swim with your Prosthetic Eye?
This question is one of the common things I'm asked from patients when I'm about to release their first prosthetic eyes.
The answer to this question is "Yes.", but with some considerations.
If a patient has a healthy eye socket with a good depth where a Prosthetic Eye is stable, swimming shouldn't be a problem. - Clean the Prosthesis after swimming. We don't know the microorganisms that are present in the swimming pool or beach. It's essential to clean the Prosthesis after swimming, as well as the surrounding lashes and lids. A good example is a mild soap or Baby Shampoo.
